As parents we feel it is
necessary to direct our children into activities that we
think are important. I chose TKD for several reasons.
We are not teaching our children to be violent or
aggressive with TKD. It is only to be used in self
defense. Christianity gives our children the mental &
spiritual strength to deal with life's challenges. They
must also have the physical strength to protect
themselves against physical threats. The children also
learn self-discipline and to respect others and take
direction in a formal setting. With the success of
accomplishment they learn confidence. They learn to
interact with others including people older and younger.
They develop their minds by memorizing and coordinating
mind and body. They learn to perform in front of people,
speak in front of people and teach what they learn.
Strength and endurance are also important in TKD. I
strongly feel that with a combination of TKD and a
strong belief in Christ we are giving our children the
tools to protect themselves both mentally and physically
and spiritually throughout their lives. I do not know
any other activity more important for a child to learn
than Tae Kwon Do
